Glad Kingdom
Are you joyful?
Should you be?
Is joy for special moments, or for all the time?
Does God want you to be joyful?
Is God joyful?
Can bad people have joy?
In an Almond Joy, is it the almond that’s joyful, or the whole candy?
Glad Kingdom is a guide to what the Bible says about joy. This is an exploration of forty passages from Genesis to Revelation, seeking to understand what God teaches us through the inspired writers. Examining these scriptures helps us find joy in this broken world and points to the perfect gladness to come.
Joy is woven all through the Bible story – In the Old Testament we find God creating the universe in an overflow of creative happiness, using chatty donkeys to correct wayward people, and receiving the joyful praise of the Psalms. In the New Testament, we see that the joyful Savior died to delight the Father and secure the joy of his people. We can even suffer with joy because we look forward to an eternity of glad satisfaction in God with his family.
If you’re curious about joy and curiouser about the Bible, this layperson’s guide will help you understand joy though God’s Word, and perhaps experience more joy yourself.
